Maths

In Maths, we will be:

  • Developing knowledge of place value up to 4-digits
  • Adding and subtracting using mental and formal written methods
  • Problem solving and reasoning
  • Regular mental maths practice
  • Developing and securing times tables up to 12x12

English

In English, we will be:

  • Reading and writing poems – haiku and cinquain - Listen to and discuss a wide range of fiction, poetry, plays, non-fiction and reference books or textbooks
  • Writing stories inspired by the Katie series by James Mayhew - Discussing writing similar to that which they are planning to write in order to understand and learn from its structure, vocabulary and grammar
  • Biographies of famous artists – writing for different purposes
  • Recounting special activities– write for a variety of purposes
  • Develop spellings through investigating patterns - Spell words that are often misspelt 
  • Sharing a range of texts including Roald Dahl and James Mayhew - Listen to and discuss a wide range of fiction, poetry, plays, non-fiction and reference books or textbooks

In Art, we’ll be finding out:

  • How artists used different materials and techniques for their work
  • About the reasons why different art work is produced
  • How photographers select, use and display their work
  • How to appreciate and interpret the work of others
    • to create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas
    • to improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials
    • about great artists, architects and designers in history.

Computing

In Computing, we’ll be finding out:

  • How computers can be used to generate art
  • How computers can be used to combine words and pictures
  • Select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems and content that accomplish given goals, including collecting, analysing, evaluating and presenting data and information
  • Use search technologies effectively, appreciate how results are selected and ranked, and be discerning in evaluating digital content
  • Design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems; solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts
