For a change, it wasn’t freezing cold; it wasn’t raining- and it wasn’t too windy either!

The last day of term saw another of the Sainsbury’s School Games taking place at the London Road astro turf. Four teams of 6 from Years 4 and 6, ‘battled’ against St. Michael’s, North Cockerington and Holton-le-Clay. Young sports leaders from KEVIGS officiated the matches- we even spotted some of our ex-pupils, who are now looking rather grown up!

In the year 3 / 4 matches, Lacey Gardens B achieved 3rd place, with Lacey Gardens A, taking the 2nd place (runners up), and receiving a trophy for ‘Bling Corner’.

In the Year 6 matches, games were close. The A team scooped 5th spot, and the B team 3rd. Great work all round!

As always, we appreciate the support, instruction, organisation and encouragement from the Wolds School Sports Partnership, and extend our thanks to staff and pupils from local secondary schools.

Due to the nights getting dark early, there will be no more hockey club until the Spring term. Instead, we are offering indoor sporting opportunities- look out for the updated lists!

School Partnership Cross Country, 10 October

With school events coming thick and fast, we were delighted to recruit 52 runners to take part in the Wolds School Sports Partnership Cross Country event, held on Monks Dyke Tennyson’s field- very handy that it is just a walk across the road for us!

Four running events showed resilience in a tough field of competition. Adela (Year 4) won the girls Y3/4 run and Elliot (Y6 boys) pulled something fabulous from the bag, dug deeper than even he thought possible and zoomed across the line in 2nd place. There was, of course, some other great running in between!

Louth Athletics Club Schools Cross Country (10th October 2015)

Again, we were lucky with the weather for annual individual cross country event! Almost 50 runners represented Lacey Gardens Junior School and certainly did us proud with fantastic behaviour and some terrific results!

It was certainly a tough course, over varying distances- all of our pupils upheld the School Games values, and our own school values too!

Trophies were awarded to:

School Games 7 v 7 Football Tournament (5th October)

Sainsburys School GamesCongratulations to our 3 teams of footballers, selected from Year 5 and 6, for the recent football tournament, held at another of our partnership schools, Cordeaux Academy.

On a particularly wet, and soggy Monday morning, 9 teams competed over two leagues. For the final match against local ‘rivals’, St. Michael’s, it was level, with all to play for. Unfortunately the A team lost 4-1 to them, however, we’re delighted to have a runners-up trophy on ‘Bling Corner’!

We are GOLD!

School Games GoldSainsburys School GamesTo acknowledge the efforts and sporting achievements of Lacey Gardens Junior School over the 2014-15 academic year, we are absolutely delighted that we have been awarded GOLD status for the School Games Mark! The previous year, we narrowly missed out on gold (by 3%, no less!), for the participation of our pupils in an after-school sporting club. 2014-15 saw a dramatic increase to a whopping 79%!

Here’s to even more sporty success and athletic achievements in 2015-16!
